Month 1 – Awareness (Rule 1 + FIAT-Q grounding) •Competency focus: noticing CRBs, therapist T1/T2s, and functional classes. •Tools: FIAT-Q introduction (as a lens for CRBs), mindfulness check-ins. •Pod practice: Pause-and-label CRB exercises with transcript/video. Month 2 – Courage (Rule 2) •Competency: evoking client vulnerability; therapist risk-taking. •“evoking maps.” from different approaches •Pod practice: Evocation real-plays, using “here-and-now” questions. Month 3 – Love (Rule 3) •Competency: natural reinforcement of CRB2s, shaping with authenticity. •Tools: Micro-skills of reinforcement (timing, warmth, contingencies). •Pod practice: Triads practicing contingent reinforcement. Month 4 – Behaviorism (Rules 4–5) •Competency: giving rationale, linking in-session to out-of-session, generalization and functional interpretations. •Tools: A-B-C analysis of sessions; FAP rationale scripts. •Pod practice: Real-play + functional debriefs. Month 5 – Therapist Self as Context •Focus: identifying therapist vulnerabilities as potential T1s. •Tools: Self-practice/self-reflection exercises. •Pod practice: Supervisors prompt trainees to name their T1s in-the-moment. Month 6 – FAP from RFT Lens • RFT processes in FAP. •Pod practice: Case formulation exercise — map RFT processes Month 7 – Mindfulness & Body Awareness •Focus: somatic cues as CRBs; therapist use of mindfulness. •Tools: Body-scan; micro-tracking client's non-verbal expressions. •Pod practice: Clients real-play bringing tension/avoidance in body; therapists respond. Month 8 – Cultural Context in CRBs •Focus: high- vs low-context communication; cultural variation in NVEs. •Tools: Research on nonverbal differences; therapist bias awareness. •Pod practice Month 9 – Advanced Competencies & Generalization Goal: Consolidate FAP, generalize skills, and deepen intimacy capacity. Month 10 – Complex Reinforcement & Punishment •Focus: differential reinforcement, blocking/punishing CRB1s without rupture. •Tools: FAP strategies for shaping vs blocking. •Pod practice: Therapist practices gently redirecting avoidance without collusion. Month 11 – Integration Across Models •Focus: weaving FAP with ACT, CFT, IBT in functional ways. •Tools: Cross-model formulation exercises. •Pod practice: Supervisors assign cases where therapists must integrate multiple lenses. Month 12 – Generalization & Therapist Development Plan •Focus: taking skills into broader practice; setting growth edges. •Tools: Therapist self-assessment against FAP competencies. •Pod practice: Each trainee presents a case of successful generalization and areas to grow.
