Make a difference with Power to Live

A placement with Power to Live will help you develop your confidence as a practitioner delivering behavioural techniques that change lives.

The placement includes an intensive 8-week behavioural training programme, weekly group and monthly individual supervision, access to a community of like-minded therapists and requires a commitment of taking on at least 4 clients.

This is not only a placement, we are building a supportive family for our therapists with continuous learning and social events four times a year.

Applications for placements are open for May/June 2023 intake training, so apply now!

By completing the application form, you are agreeing to our privacy policy.

An 8-week intensive behavioural programme

Our placement therapists need to deliver behavioural therapies, so we require trainees to pass an 8-week training in functional analysis, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Functional Analytic Psychotherapy (FAP). Find out more about the types of therapy we specialise in.

This training is delivered by the UK's only certified FAP trainer, Tien Kuei. It's intense and rigorous, with a special emphasis on experiential in-session therapeutic processes, so be prepared to dive deep to super-charge your ability as an agent for change.

This will suit volunteers who are eager to learn, and most importantly be courageously self-reflective and compassionate.

If you want to join the behavioural training without the placement, then please email us.

Who we're looking for

We welcome therapists and counsellors from all theoretical orientations, as long as you are open to learning behavioural formulation skills to enhance your therapy.

We will consider applicants who have experience working in a supportive environment (i.e. care worker / social worker) with evidence of aptitude and experience in compassionate supportive interactions.

Alternatively you will be studying towards one of the following qualifications:

  • Postgrad Diploma in Counselling

  • Degree or Masters in Counselling, CBT, Counselling/Clinical Psychology, Psychotherapy or Somatic approaches.

Power to Live is committed to creating an inclusive community for our therapists.
